In regards to the new trend in barefoot running and barefoot style running shoes what is your opinion on these shoes and does shoe clinic now stock them?

We stock Nike Free, in  the barefoot or minimalistic running shoe area. We haven't gone as far as  the  likes of Vibram Five Fingers, as at this stage it isn't an area where we feel we are 100% confident selling these as a running shoe.

My personal belief is that there are runners who can wear this type of product without  the risk of injury BUT not a lot. Most of us need cushioning & support to various different levels, so that is where  the most minimalistic we stock are Nike Free, as they do still have a midsole under  the foot.

There are many differing views on barefoot running, & as I said, this is just my own personal opinion. At  the very least I would make sure you get any barefoot running shoes fitted correctly, so as you are aware of how much or little running you are recommended to do in them, based on your running biomechanics.
