My son loves to run but he is only 4 years old. Recently he ran/walked with me for a 5 km distance. I am thinking about doing this more regularly with him. I would invest in a good pair of shoes for him. Is it too early for young bones to jog this distance?

We asked two podiatrists about this question and both were of the same opinion - that your son is too young to run that type of distance. Up to one kilometre is more the type of distance he should be doing at his age and ideally on grass rather than roads. Further than this, he shouldn't be doing this until age 6 or 7. He should also have a good pair of specific running shoes. To do this come into your nearest Shoe Clinic and we can fit him in the correct running shoes for him.
