hi, I currently run in a pair of Asics Nimbus (bought from Shoeclinic a year ago). I just slightly pronate, but my main problem is that the ball of my first ray is too plantar-flexed in both feet which results in too much pressure on the ball just behind my big toes. Just recently a podiatrist constructed an orthodic to correct this for me. In addition, he recommended two running shoes: the Asics Empire II and the Nike Structure. If I wanted to go for an Asics shoe, would I be better off going for the Gel Kayano 13 than the Empire? my reasoning being that they are both in the 'structured cushioning' category with the Kayano seemingly being the top of this category. Or are they quite different shoes, with one having more cushioning or structure than the other? Also, do you know how the Nike Structure stacks up against either of those Asics? thanks for any help!


The Asics Empire II will be most likely better than the Kayano 13 for you, as it is designed to take care of your forefoot, whereas the Kayano
is more about rearfoot protection. They are both top of the range shoes, but the difference is more about the support they give & where i.e.
Forefoot v Rearfoot.

The Structure Triax is a very good shoe also, & my recommendation is to go into your local Shoe Clinic store & try both models on & see what
works best for you. Your podiatrist will be recommending on very sound grounds, so I would recommend going the direction they have told you.
