10 years ago I injured my knees after training as an aerobics instructor and wearing the wrong footwear for me. i couldn't even sit at a computer with my knees bent without it hurting! I saw a podiatrist and was told I had Patella Femoral Rotation (a fancy word for twisted hips and knees) and all the specialists said that I would never be able to run injury free and comfortably. I would only ever be able to do low-impact activities; swimming and cycling.
My family have all been runners and active so I naturally was gutted. I had to take a year off high impact activities to fully recover from my knee injury and have extensive physiotherapy. I lost my motivation for fitness and became quite lazy and unfit! I always had dreams of completing events and tried a couple of triathlons with my mum and sisters with great disappointment because it hurt and I struggled.
I was about to give in and believe that I could never be an active person again. but i thought I would give it another go and started running. I increased my running distance too fast and wasn't sensible about my training and ended up with stress fractures in both my shins.
Another trip to the podiatrist... sent to a sports specialist for xrays, scans and physio yet again. This time my podiatrist sent me to Shoe Clinic with my new orthotics and was fitted with the correct shoes for me! I then tried running again with a sensible rehabilitation programme and training plan and not to forget determination.
I have since ran 4 half marathons and now training for a marathon in December. I am injury free with the help of the Shoe Clinic, my podiatrist and physio. It goes to show... anything is possible.

After 6 months and 30 kg lighter I decided to run the Auckland marathon. Encouraged by my family I completed the Auckland marathon and became addicted to participating in other marathons and half marathons.
Fed up with the pain from blackened toe nails I went to the Shoe Clinic in New Market with my old running shoes and was fitted with a pair of Asics Nimbus shoes. I am now into my 6th pair. I no longer suffer from toe pain or any other problems and have completed 15 marathons and 15 half marathons.
My two children have also been to Shoe Clinic stores and now both wear Asics shoes.
As well as been fitted with running shoes I have valued and taken the technical advice on clothing etc. to help with my running.
Next month I run the Auckland marathon as a ‘roadster’ (having completed 5 Auckland marathons) with my son running the marathon and my daughter and husband running the half marathon.
Six and a half years ago I struggled to hobble the 500 meters to the beach and would never have had the confidence to go into a sports store and be fitted with top running shoes.
With the support and encouragement of my family and the staff at the New Market Shoe Clinic I now lead a fit, healthy and pain free life.

Then I thought hey let's find out what it's all about. I found a 13 week beginner's programme in a library book, got myself a pair of running shoes. Much to my surprise I got to like this running thing.
There were a few hickups on the way. From no running at all to doing three sessions a week was a bit much for the old body. A few physio sessions cured my hip pain, a set of formthotics solved the foot problem.
Now I am up to doing 1 hour run sessions, have 1 more week to go on this programme and it won't be long before I can line up for a 10 km run. Who would have thought that of me a year ago?

I decided to get fit rather than sitting on the couch eating ice cream. I have never run before March 2009.
Initially I thought I'd try for a half marathon. But a little part of me said \"I don't do things by half\". I started training for a full marathon. You have to realise, having never run before, completing a marathon was akin to landing on the moon for me - the same category of IMPOSSIBLE.
The marathon was sponsored by Adidas and it had the perfect slogan \"impossible is nothing\". I went to Shoe Clinic to buy my shoes, and received excellent advice and support. I also learnt about energy gels, chomps, compression gear and all other running advice from your store.
Every time I'd come in the shop owner in Newmarket would recognise me and ask how my training is going. I remember buying a pair of shoes and thinking \"will you take me over the finish line in this marathon?\" And then, 7 months later, on 01 November 2009 I completed Auckland marathon in 3:43.
It was the best day of my life because it meant so much to overcome a broken heart and do something impossible and achieve it. And Shoe Clinic was a big part of it. So thank you. After 3 kids and my husband becoming sick with cancer I had little time to pursue sports. Four years after my husbands death I decided it was time to claim some time back for myself.
I returned to play netball and after 10 years out of the game was terrified of playing and hurting myself. Off to the Shoe Clinic in Nelson I went to purchase some netball shoes. Fitted by an informed assistant I had to confess to her that yes they were fantastic but I would have to think about them due to the price. It took me 3 return trips before I purchased the shoes and each time I was in the shop I had fantastic service.
That same year I was also asked to do the Spring Challenge, a 6hr womens only multi sport adventure race. After completing some training in my very old running shoes and having sore legs it was off to the Shoe Clinic again to purchase some trail shoes. I was fitted out and wore them the first time for a 3 hour run/hike through creeks and all and they were perfect. (Later I was told that I perhaps should have worn them for shorter periods to break them in, but luckily, this was not needed).
Now having just completed a second Spring Challenge this year (and replacing my shoes after wearing out my others), I am looking for my next adventure. Whatever it may be it will definitely be in a pair of shoes from the Shoe Clinic.
So thanks to the Team at the Nelson Shoe Clinic - you are great. My only complaint is that my 3 girls also think you and your shoes are great.

My husband told me to go the experts so I popped into the Willis st store....Amzing service, friendly bunch and the knowledge!!!!!
I was tested and put into some Mizuno Ultima Wave 2 trainers. Mmmm I say they're comfy...do they come in another colour?....No i'm told....Mmmmm I usually go for something a bit more pretty....We can try something else. So I did as soon as it was on my foot I said get it off it feels terrible!
I left the store with my new trainers and two pairs of the most incredible socks!! ... I have just got in from my 90 minute run...it was my best ever and I just wanted to say A Huge Thank you for not letting me pick \"pretty\" these trainers are AMAZING and are going to make my Marathon training really enjoyable. I?m a swimmer who has dabbled with running over the last few years. I like to cross train and running is something you can do anywhere.
In 2009 I decided to set myself a winter ?project? to train for a half marathon. I?ve swum across Auckland harbour a few times so figured why not run across it for a change. So in June 2009 I entered the Auckland half in the coming November. I rearranged my training schedule to include my three runs a week (one sprint, one hills and one long one!) and off I went. It wasn?t long before I started noticing a few aches, pains and niggles. I figured my shoes were probably to blame, I confess I had bought some ?bargain? running shoes from another store which will remain nameless (think of one of David Bowie?s songs and you?ll probably work out where). Realising my goal could be slipping away I did the sensible thing and booked an appointment with the podiatrist at The Shoe Clinic. He put me through my paces and I tried on a few pairs. We settled on a pair of Brooks Adrenaline.
I carried on with my training and the niggles went away. On a cold morning in November I lined up with all the other hopefuls. I was nervous and excited at the same time. All the hours of training (through some pretty testing Wellington weather) had led up to this point and here I was about to achieve my goal. The race started and off we went, a sea of red (I wore pink I think you have to earn?your?race shirt before you wear it) it was awesome though I wish I had studied the course beforehand as we hit a hill after a couple of minutes which came as quite a shock! Crossing the bridge was a neat experience and I never realised just how steep it is! I finished the race a very happy runner; I even finished in the top half of the field which totally blew me away. I still run 2 to 3 times a week, I?m not training for anything I just enjoy it and with the Wellington waterfront as my running track it would be hard not to. I still wear my Brooks (not the same pair!) I couldn?t imagine running in anything else. Thank you Shoe Clinic for putting me on the right path.

After putting in a fair bit of effort into getting active, eating better and losing a lot of weight (18kg!) I decided that to keep up the momentum that I should treat my feet to some shoes that were much more suited to me. A bit of cause and effect, I rolled my ankle badly, while wearing shoes from another sports shop, running through the Botanical Gardens here in Napier and it took a while to heal. Nothing like new shoes to help get back on track again (and help stabilize the ankle).
Excellent, a lovely pair of pink Asics that I wore and wore and wore mostly at the gym and running/walking outside. So much so that they pretty much wore out and got downgraded to the “causal day” shoe and I bought another pair from the Shoe Clinic for my exercise programme. Eventually these shoes also wore out, and got downgraded to the “casual day” shoe and the previous pair got further downgraded to “gardening shoes”. Yes, I have a system of death for my training shoes.
With the new pair, still pretty much on the white and pink theme, a group of us from the gym decided that we would give the Rotorua Tough Guy and Gal Challenge (August 2010) a go. We organized training runs every 2nd weekend for a few months – Te Mata Peak, Napier Hill, Park Island, Napier Hill again to keep up the social aspect of training for what should be an entertaining weekend away. During this time I also won a competition at the gym for the most gym classes over a 6 week period. I was training fairly hard.
As it approached we upped the planning for costumes, nutrition on the day (chardonnay to celebrate), leaving Napier at some ungodly hour in the morning to drive for a few hours (and apparently my driving is open to ridicule). One thing we did notice on the information was that we should probably wear old shoes and they should be taped around our feet to stop them falling off or the laces catching in who-knows-what in the mud. Ahhhh yes, the shoes relegated to gardening. Not ideal for a 6km run, but what choice do you have with LOTS of mud involved.
It was hard but entertaining, until running around one corner on a gravel road I rolled my ankle. That hurt but being competitive I took a deep breath and kept going. A wee bit further around the track was the tyre run. All was well, got through all the tyres, until the last one. Yep, I landed on the edge of the tyre and my ankle – the same one – rolled off. Remember, the shoes are taped to our feet, so I actually rolled over the shoe and down the tyre. That took at least two breaths and some pretty unrepeatable language but I kept going. I finished the event in 1 hour 6 minutes, which I was a tad disappointed in as I was aiming for 1 hour.
My leg was pretty sore but a few drinks that night made the dancing possible. However, the next morning, walking was damn near impossible and my leg was a nasty shade of blue and green. Nothing like limping around a hotel that catered for the event so everyone knew where you had been the day before. How to look like a complete wimp! Not so tough after all it seems.
Needless to say, those shoes made it home and into the wheelie bin. Their gardening days were over.
I took a few days off to let things settle and started back at the gym but it hurt still. The physio had a few goes at it, but each time I ended up feeling pretty bad so three xrays and a couple of doctor visits later and not only had I stuffed the ankle but I had fractured my fibula. No wonder it hurt and remained bruised for all of this time.
After I had given it some downtime for repair and another visit to the Shoe Clinic to get some shoes (blue ones just for a change!) that would cope with the new problems, I started back at the gym. That lasted a month or so and I was back to square one with ankle issues. Tried again, to no avail. At Christmas we went to the South Island for two weeks and did the absolutely awesome Otago Rail Trail (and 3,700km’s of driving – it’s the right ankle, the accelerator one) and I was right back at the start again. Bring on a trip to the specialist, an MRI, another trip to the specialist and although the fracture is mended, the ankle hasn’t. A recent cortisone jab has dulled the edges and I am crossing my fingers that it stays that way.
After 3 months off exercise, again, work came up with the Global Corporate Challenge (www.gettheworldmoving.com). At this point, I wasn’t coping too well with a lot of things as exercise is my stress release and a great way of keeping in touch with friends so I was missing both. Plus add a few kilo’s that I had tried so hard to lose a few years back and things weren’t in a good place. The GCC was a good motivator to get out there, start slow, walk instead of run and with a team environment at work, have some support with nutrition and just starting all over again.
Out came the last pair of Shoe Clinic Asics that I had bought but hadn’t worn a great deal. One feature I love is that they lace up on an angle, so there isn’t the direct pressure on the ankle joint of standard laces. It’s the small things that can make the biggest difference. The shoes however aren’t designed for the ankle support I have been wearing and the right one has definitely worn out faster than the left. Halfway through the Global Challenge, they unfortunately aren’t going to make two walks a day and I bought another pair from the Shoe Clinic on the weekend.
I am wrapped to report that not only do the angled laces still work very well but the new ankle cuff is just fantastic. If I didn’t know better, I would think my new Asics had been designed for my ankle! The walking and gym is going well, still not quite at the running stage but I’m thinking that day might not be too far away. I’ve also lost a few of the kilo’s I’d put on with a few still to go, discovered the way to solve the worlds issues again (exercising with friends) and starting to feel a huge amount better. Exercise is most definitely the key and I would be wrapped to support the Shoe Clinic as they have been fantastic in their support of me.","Order_Key":"","Sub_Product_ID":"514725c529f31934bd70f4d3","Product_Data_Field_ID":24475419,"_id":"514725c5069caa5718e3ade8","__Clone_Of":null}],"images":["yourstory-jade-1-napier.jpg","yourstory-jade-2-napier.jpg","yourstory-jade-3-napier.jpg"]}],"options":{}};|

I remembered one of the guys from my harrier club saying there was a place where they fit shoes for your style of running or walking and it didn't cost extra. On top of that you get a really well fitted pair of shoes.
Too good to be true I thought and put up with my sore feet for another couple of months. Finally I had had enough and went to the Shoe Clinic for a pair of walking shoes, I was impressed that somebody took the time to talk to me about what I did for a job and to measure and record how I walked to I could get the perfect shoes for me and my situation. Well my sore feet went away and I was very happy.
A few months ago I started to get sore feet again and realized that my running shoes needed replacing so when I had enough money I went to Shoe Clinic again and was very impressed with the time they took to make sure I had the right shoes. I am now 42 and have been running since I was 18, in all that time this is the first time that I have had a pair of shoes that feel really good and make running easier.

Before my podiatrist told me to get professionally fitted shoes I was \"one of those people\" - I'd go to whatever sports shop had a sale on when my existing shoes fell apart and buy the runners with the biggest discount.
One pair of Shoe Clinic Asics changed all of that. I found out that I was slightly prone and that I was even wearing shoes that were a size too big. I also realised how comfortable and supportive the correct pair of shoes could and should be! Now I live in my trainers.
Correctly fitting, good quality running shoes have helped me regain a high level of physical activity after giving up horse riding and after one very sedentary final year of university. Now my fitness levels have skyrocketed and my approach to training is more disciplined than ever before, making me more motivated and helping me to achieve my goals quickly and injury-free. Not exactly a Cinderella happy ever after story, but it sure does have its moments - and it's not over yet.
My first contact with Shoe Clinic was when I decided to be a participant instead of a spectator - inspired and encouraged by my partner and his friends and clients, to 'have a go' at jogging. I bought an expensive pair of shoes fitted by a competitor. The shoes were supposed to be the 'right ones' for me.
After having polio as a child, my left leg is slightly shorter and weaker, so I'll never be a record breaker, in fact, I'd grown up believing I couldn't do something as big and hard as a half marathon. So I wore these expensive new shoes and tried to jog in them, but they never 'felt' right, and I hated them. I persevered for weeks because I thought the shoes were 'right' and the problem was me and my wonky legs. I was embarrassed about my wonky legs, and how slow I was.
Eventually, my partner convinced me to take the shoes to Shoe Clinic for advice. They looked at me jog, looked at the shoes, and said the shoes were completely wrong for whatever my jog 'style' was. That was the good news - the bad news was I needed another (even more expensive) pair of shoes. Feeling relieved and a little bit vindicated I paid for the shoes - Asics Nimbus - now these shoes felt right!
The Nimbus didn't turn me into an amazing athlete (sigh... I wish!), but despite always being somewhere at the back, I found yes even I could finish a half marathon - imagine that?! Being part of an event was way better than being a spectator! So good, in fact, that I have accumulated a collection of different coloured Nimbus shoes that have been worn out on the road to completing several half marathons, half ironmans, and even the 'big one' ... in 2009 I was 4th last finisher at the Taupo Ironman.
Now there was a Cinderella moment, totally unforgettable! My positive experience at Shoe Clinic keeps bringing me back - not just for replacement Nimbus shoes, but also for a variety of jogging, and tri apparel, from 'skins' to elastic laces.
Then earlier this year I asked for something completely different - for an insurance quote. During a training ride preparing for Ironman 2011, I crashed off my bike. Not only wrecked what I was wearing (thus the quote), I also wrecked myself. In hospital for a few days with multiple fractures, and off work for weeks, I lost my Ironman dream for 2011. I needed surgery to insert a metal plate to hold my broken collarbone together. Coming through this has been quite an experience, I hope I am never ever that helpless again.
At the beginning so many everyday things were a real struggle. Getting in and out of bed, washing and dressing myself, hanging out washing, making a cup of tea...! As for the broken ribs, for weeks every breath, every little movement hurt. I have learned to take whatever positives I can in the slow gains made in the weeks and months since 'The Accident'.
I'm back at work, I'm swimming again, I'm jogging again, and even tentatively on the bike again. As I said at the start, this story is not finished - starting again after this injury has been painful, and darned hard. It's hard on the body and it's hard on the head. I have most of my life back now, but I am not the athlete I was before 'The Accident', and I yearn for all of my life back. The bar is set as high as it can go - I have entered Ironman 2012. I don't know if I will make it to the start line, let alone get through to the finish line, but there is only one way to find out - to go for it.","Order_Key":"","Sub_Product_ID":"514725c59929a5919576cc1a","Product_Data_Field_ID":24475419,"_id":"514725c538c5563871f1a32f","__Clone_Of":null}],"images":["yourstory-winnie1-lower-hutt.jpg"]}],"options":{}};

I took a 40% pay cut to stay in the workforce. It was a difficult time financially which became depressing and stressful. In October 2009 I weighed in at 98kgs - even more depressing!! When I'm only 5'6\" (168cm) tall, that's clinically obese.
In January 2010, I decided that after a life time of doing everything for everyone else, it was time to have a year all about ME. In early February 2010, I signed up to Weight Watchers and the journey began.
After losing 10kg by changing by modifying the way I looked at food and committing to walking in my lunch times, I needed a new challenge. A colleague suggested we enter the South Island half Ironman - sprint distance. Sprint Distance = 950m Swim > 30km Cycle > 6km Run. Because I love a challenge... I also entered into the Physiomed Womens Triathlon Series.....
Essentially I'm lazy at heart so I knew I needed some guidance. I employed the services of Complete Performance. As my personal coach Jo Knight made sure I had a tailored training plan that would prepare me for these crazy events. I started out walking for 2 minutes then running for two minutes - I felt like I was going to pass out!...
Every lunch time I'd tootle across to Hagley park to complete my 3.6km walk / run. After 2 weeks of 2 mins walk 2 mins run I was getting bored with the 2 mins walk so I cut it back to 1 min walk 2 mins run. After another week 1 min walk 3 mins run....
still feeling like I would pass out each time I did it but I battled on.... I thought I'd see how far I could push myself. One Monday morning I was feeling particularly tired after a Big weekend, not very motivated to even walk the park, let alone run.....
As I got to the park, something in my head just said Run, so I did. I ran the entire 3.6km without stopping. It took me just on half an hour but I did it! It was liberating to know that this chunky monkey could get out there and RUN!
My running journey started that day. I ran as much of the Half Ironman as I could (I completed it 35mins quicker than I anticipated)and I ran in the triathlon series, good times but not great (Good Marker stick). I now weigh 74kgs, I run most lunch times between 3-5kms and I've managed the odd 10km run which takes me about an hour. I have a Nike running band that tracks most of my runs.
Thanks to Shoe Clinic, I have some great shoes and some snazzy runny gear. I love knowing I can run. I love looking like I can run. My journey is not complete as I have more fitness and weight goals to achieve but I feel great and apparently I look a lot better than I did 24kgs ago...

I have grown up living as a bigger person, having to play 2 years above my grade in rugby as a kid, hunting down clothing in XXXL and 42 inch waist, and also dealing with being bullied because of my size.
Four years ago the mere thought of competing in a Triathlon let alone an Ironman was so extreme and foreign to me. My life was extreme on another level, living the kiwi dream of an OE in Europe, indulging in the fine food and wines of the continent, partying and certainly not exercising!
I finally tipped the scales at 134kg and this was enough to trigger something within me, it was time to start thinking about embarking on a new journey in life.
I started by getting back into the sports I loved as teenager, but hadn't had the confidence to continue with. Through snowboarding and surfing I started to reduce my weight, albeit with small gains. I was then enticed into the gym by a good friend and started working out and walking regularly.
Upon arrival back in New Zealand my weight was down to 115kg and not wanting to stop this downward trend I joined up at Les Mills after only 2 days of being home.
As the weight continued to drop I was able to participate in higher intensity cardio workouts and found myself enjoying the high of a hard training session. My new found confidence meant I was able to try things I had always shied away from in the past because of my size.
My mother challenged me to an open water-swimming race, which I took to without much fear due to my love of the water from surfing. Regardless of my weight I was still buoyant and was able to generate a lot of power with my large arms and legs. Race day arrived and with the competitive spirit firmly ignited I won the challenge......I was hooked.
Stroke and Stride events were next on my hit list and with a strong swim I found myself going backwards on the run. However I thrived in this racing environment and it only made me more determined to shed more kilos and come back faster the following season.
Winter 2010 came and I was weighing around 95kgs. It was then that the gauntlet was thrown down, the once unthinkable Ironman. It was time to get myself a bike and put the last piece of the jigsaw together.
I was staring down the barrel of a long and gruelling training regime. I was determined to get fit enough to take on one of the toughest races on the planet. It felt like a huge task, but when broken down into pieces it seemed achievable and I began to believe anything is possible.
With great inspiration around me, the training sessions became a platform for me too continually improve and constantly push the boundaries in my mind and body. The rapid progression of my fitness and endurance base meant I actually enjoyed it. My weight was now dropping a by-product of this new found passion.
Summer served up my first Triathlon and I was now weighing 78kgs, 56kgs lighter than when I started embarking on this journey. The Olympic distance race gave me a good result, I finished in 2 hours 23 minutes and felt the momentum within me building. The shorter sprint distance was next up and I surprised myself by finishing 3rd in my age group, an awesome feeling.
The Taupo Half Ironman came around in December, this was the perfect hit out to gauge where all those hours of training had got me. A finish of 5 hours and 13 minutes gave me a sense of great achievement, but I gained more respect for how tough this sport was?..it was a hard day out there and I drew on all the experiences I had been through over the years to get me to this point.
Over the last 3 months, with the help of my coach Clive Asplen, I feel I have made the gains, physically and mentally to prepare for the highs and the lows I know race day will bring. Ironman, once was just to finish, now it's how fast and how hard can I push my mind and body.
With 2 weeks out the taper had begun all the hard work was done, it's now fine-tuning and keeping the excitement and nerves under control?. Ironman 2011 dawned & brought a chaotic day with plenty of rain this did not deter me or any of the other athletes as it was now time to race & put it all on the line! A solid race with a few dark moments along the way but the end result of 11:08:50 in my debut such a great achievement form where I was 3 years ago? what's next you ask? - Kona!!
This is also a time for me to reflect on the journey I have been on and how far I have come, I think I can finally shake off the persona of Big Boy! It's a story to be told and a lesson that life can change for you if you want it badly enough.

Let me introduce myself. I am 'Mizuno Wave Inspire 4' ladies size 10. I had been waiting patiently in the Albany Shoe Clinic storeroom, telling myself that my turn would come as all the smaller sizes flew out the door. It's always the size 7s on display - never the big girls. Would today be my day?
I was surprised because she wasn't really your typical runner type... Long legs, but carrying a few too many extra kilos for comfort. The SC guy asked her a few questions and her aim was to train for her first Marathon. She'd never run further than 12kms but had set her heart on running 42.2. That made me a little nervous, but I was up for the challenge! Anything to get out of that store room; running shoes aren't designed to stay on the shelf.
She'd been doing a bit of running to keep fit overseas and that got me really excited! I just could see myself striding through London and zipping around New York... How cool would that be?
I had a bit of competition. This girl had a history with Asics, a soft spot for pink shoes and I was neither. Luckily for me the SC guy suggested that she try some different models so that's how I got my chance to shine on the treadmill. You've no idea how long I'd waited to test drive that baby!
She raved about how comfortable I felt, how light I was and how good I was to run in. She made the decision there and then, but in reality it was me who picked her. I finally got to pair up with one of the cool SC shoulder bags and within days I was running around the outside world. Freedom! She took me to some great places and put reflective stickers on me when we ran in the dark. We did our first ever Half Marathon together; it was brilliant.
One day she came home with a new SC bag... Asics Kayano had arrived for the business end of training. But she still took me out on short runs and to the gym, so I can't complain. I am proud to have been there for the start of her amazing journey, picking her was the right decision. And I know she feels the same, because three years, four marathons, six half marathons, the Speight's Coast to Coast and a trip to Paris later, she hasn't found the heart to throw me out :)

We went everywhere to look for black shoes, but couldn't find shoes that were in her size or comfortable enough. Either the heel was too high or it felt like she was wearing rocks on her feet.
Eventually I dragged her into Shoe Clinic at Sylvia Park and we immediately found the most comfortable pair in the right size. The staff were very helpful too!

I have been going in there now for the past 4 years or so every 6 months and Andrew always remembers who I am, where I am from and what I do!
I had already entered the Auckland Marathon (my FIRST ever!) when I went in. As I had been doing triathlon till then, the team got me to go through the full fitting process to check I was still in the right shoe (I was) and off I went out the door with another pair of Asics and on to run the Auckland marathon!
It would have to have been one of the proudest days of my life running and finishing my first ever marathon! Thanks Shoe Clinic! :)

I was sick of being overweight, sick of being left behind, not being able to buy clothes from ‘normal’ shops and just over everything associated with being fat.
I'm not really sure what triggered this and I am constantly amazed at my perseverance and commitment to this. I had tried before to lose a lot of weight and had limited success but this time, I have done it.
My journey started with walking and after a while of putting up with pain in my feet and legs I headed to a podiatrist who helped me by mainly telling me my shoes were too small! He recommended Asics as a brand so off I went to Shoe Clinic. A proper fitting, helpful staff, a new pair of Asics shoes, new walking socks and I continued with my walking.
Amazing the difference a properly fitted pair of shoes makes!
Jump to 26th July 2011, I now weigh a healthy 71kg (down from 108.4kg). I walk, run, gym, bike and can get up hills and enjoy them.
I have come through obese, overweight and the delight in seeing the scales come down and my BMI reach 'healthy', keeps me going and keeps me motivated.
I have learnt so much about myself, my strength in being able to stay focused, my amazing will power to say no when I know it is for a goal I really want to achieve. I have friends and a trainer who have helped me along the way. 2 more pairs of Asics shoes have been worn out and I feel great. I love what I see in the mirror now and that is an amazing feeling.
I still have a little bit more to go to get to my final weight goal and then it will be setting future goals. Maybe body sculpting, maybe running further than along Oriental Bay, maybe doing a ‘great walk’ overseas.
First though I need to reach my current goal then I desperately need to go shopping for new workout clothes (that fit!) and new shoes! Or maybe I win this prize and can go crazy with Shoe Clinic.
Thanks for the opportunity and thanks for being such a great team and provided such good service.","Order_Key":"","Sub_Product_ID":"514725c51adc303cb7c685bb","Product_Data_Field_ID":24475419,"_id":"514725c59d3567b3ab14e5d9","__Clone_Of":null}],"images":["yourstory-sally1-wellington.jpg"]}],"options":{}};|
